In Mexico, internationally acclaimed photographer and filmmaker Louie Palu documented the drug war. In the Artic, geopolitics.

And in Afghanistan and Ukraine, war.

But before all that, Louie Palu was right here in Cobalt as part of his project to create a visual record of the mining communities of Northern Ontario and Quebec.

The result was two groundbreaking books – Cage Call and Industrial Cathedrals of the North – both published in collaboration with Charlie Angus.

The Cobalt Mining Museum is pleased to welcome Louie Palu for public lecture on Tuesday, June 23rd at 6pm, followed by a question-and-answer session.

Coming this August, the Cobalt Nugget Race will return!

The way it works is simple, each ticket will get you a silver nugget (numbered silver golf ball), and on August 17, all silver nuggets will be raced down the hill, in several heats, and the furthest nugget wins the heat. The winner of the finals will receive a prize of $1,500! Tickets are only $10.00 and can be purchased at the museum or from Board Members or Staff.

Can you determine truth from fiction? The Cobalt True or False History Challenge will put your abilities to the test as you try to determine the correct response to an interactive host of story tellers who will offer you two very compelling stories, and in groups of two. your task will be to determine the truth from fiction.

This event will start at the Cobalt Mining Museum, and finish at the Bunker Military Museum, with light refreshments included. It is expected to be between a 1 - 1.5 hour duration.

Tickets cost $50.00 per pair, and each time slot is for a pair of individuals. Tickets are on a timed start and cannot be switched after purchase. Please adhere to your start time, and arrive early! Refreshments provided.
